User Story

Our system user was a start-up freight railway in the UAE that was a national entity managing the development, construction and operation of the federal network.

Their freight operations started in mid-2023. Unfortunately, some of the business critical system were facing significant challenges. This was not a good news to the terminal team, due to the lack of visibility, reliability and accuracy of data. The manual work process was proven to be excessively time-consuming. This was thus an operational crisis situation.

Based on the onsite observation, we helped established the provisional order-to-cash process as the first step. In the absence of the other systems, we built an interim TOS from scratch on Odoo SaaS. It provided the core functionalities, e.g., the gate-in-and-out validation of load and carriers, and the real-time on-hand quantity visibility. The interim solution was presented to their Freight CEO, and it was immediately accepted.


From the start of the development to go-live, it took around ten days. The freight team found this rather magical, and thus the solution was internally named as "Box-of-Magic".

Eventually to-date, the interim solution has been and is still in-use for at least two years under our support. Its functionalities have been significantly expanded to include, e.g. inventory management, customer portal, event notifications, data visualisation, etc. Highly positive feedback has been received from their top management to operators on the ground, vendors, and customers.
